We acknowledge that we are living on and benefiting, personally and professionally, from unceded, ancestral, stolen Indigenous homelands of Ləkʷəŋən Peoples of Songhees (Ləkʷəŋən) and Esquimalt (Xwepsum) Nations. Since time out of mind, these sovereign Nations have distinct deep connections and steward these lands, waters and forests. As european white settlers we acknowledge ongoing structural and systemic violence of racism and colonialism that creates widespread and ongoing inequities. We also must acknowledge Indigenous Rights and Title to these lands.

Daily, we reflect on how we contribute to and perpetuate this violence in our own lives and careers. We commit to the unlearning and healing that is required in our journeys and invite other white settlers into relationship and accountability to these truths.

Through critical reflection, vulnerability and humility we seek to understand our gaps and bias created through our socialization. We continually challenge ourselves to change our own colonial patterns through accountable, authentic and reciprocity relationships. We are prepared for and grateful for any feedback about how we can grow. Please contact us info@OurUnlearning.ca
